For its very first event, Polarise starts with a bang! We will screen the avant-première of one of Sweden’s most anticipated films of the year: Tigers (Best Nordic Film & Best Actor at the 2021 Göteborg Film Festival).
This crowd-pleasing film, directed by Ronnie Sandahl, is based on the true story of Swedish football player Martin Bengtsson. Martin was ‘bought’ by the Italian club Inter Milan at 16 years old. At first, it felt like a dream come true for the young prodigy. But soon, the crushing effect of this multi-billion sports industry made its way to Martin’s head. ‘Tigers’ feels truly original. It offers both a team sport spectacle, usually seen in American entertainment, while keeping us grounded with a more typically European critical look at a shiny industry. It’s also a subtle coming of age story.
