Songs of Earth is a sensory documentary that follows Director Margreth Olin’s parents and shows their deep love for the unique nature that surrounds them. Although in great shape, her forebears are getting older, and discuss this with great tenderness and tranquility. Breathtaking footage of the Oldedalen valley in Vestland, Norway and visually detailed shots form a love letter to the beautiful Norwegian landscape, reminding us of our privileged position in the natural environment.
The great and fragile nature of life are juxtaposed to powerful effect in this documentary which was Norway’s Oscar contender and is executive-produced by acclaimed Norwegian actress and director Liv Ullmann and director Wim Wenders. The film received its world premiere at this year’s CPH:DOX 2023 documentary film festival in Denmark.
Songs of Earth est un documentaire consacré aux parents vieillissants de la réalisatrice, Margreth Olin et à leur amour profond pour la nature qui les entoure. Des images à couper le souffle de la vallée d’Oldedalen dans le Vestland, en Norvège forment une lettre d’amour au paysage. Un film qui nous rappelle notre position privilégiée dans l’environnement naturel et qui traite de la vieillesse avec beaucoup de tendresse.
Ce documentaire a été sélectionné par la Norvège pour les Oscars et est produit par la célèbre actrice et réalisatrice norvégienne Liv Ullmann et par le réalisateur Wim Wenders.
Le film a été présenté en première mondiale lors du festival du film documentaire Danois CPH:DOX 2023.
